If your A/C is not working properly, there are troubleshooting steps you can take before calling for service:

  1. Check the Thermostat: Is there power? Is it set to cool? Is the temperature set below the room temperature?
  2. Check the Power: Go to the electrical panel and ensure the breakers powering the condenser and air handler are not tripped.
  3. Check the Filter: A clogged air filter limits airflow through the system which can cause it to overheat. Replace or clean a reusable filter.
  4. Check the Ducts: If your ducts are accessible, inspect for disconnected sections or holes. If you wish to seal a leak, DO NOT USE DUCT TAPE. Duct joints should be secured with screws and mastic. Call a professional if you’re not familiar with this process.
  5. Check the Windows and Doors: Dry, cracked weather stripping can cause costly A/C leaks. Be sure your doors and windows are closed and tightly sealed.
  6. Call the Contractor: When these troubleshooting tips are not enough, call the HVAC professionals at Integrity Air. We are located in Jasper and service North Georgia and Metro Atlanta including Cherokee, Cobb, Dawson, Gilmer, Fannin, Forsyth, North Fulton, and Pickens counties.
