How to Choose an HVAC Company

It’s July in North Georgia and it happens… your AC stops working! We know, it’s really hot and humid and the last thing you needed was this… You’ve come face-to-face with the decision of who to hire for the repair. Before you do, here are some pointers for choosing the right company:

First, do a background check to make sure the company is a recognized professional.

  1. Review the HVAC company’s website to ensure they have a functional, updated website that shows attention to detail and make sure the company services your area
  2. Check with the Georgia Secretary of State to insure the company is registered here
  3. Check their listing with the Better Business Bureau to ensure they’re accredited and have an A+ rating
  4. Check the company’s reviews on Facebook
  5. Check the company’s verified reviews on a third-party site like Google, Yelp or Home Advisor
  6. Is the company you’re considering experienced with your make and model of HVAC equipment? (Integrity Air services ALL makes and models and is a Rheem Pro Partner)

Contact the company for an appointment
Contact the company by phone. Ask if they provide free estimates, ask for references (and then check those references), and observe their overall customer service. A little investigation will make it easy to quickly see who you’re dealing with and if they’re a good fit for you. Now that you’ve done your homework, and set an appointment, prepare to meet the company’s representative.

What should you expect from your appointment?
The company’s representative should arrive on time in a company vehicle. Your HVAC contractor should make a thorough inspection of your equipment before presenting to you their assessment, timeframe and associated costs of repair in writing. They should also be committed to telling you what you need to know, NOT what you want to hear. Don’t hire a company that will not offer you honesty and transparency throughout the job.

What about timing?
It should be the goal of your HVAC contractor company to provide you with an accurate time-frame for any parts that need to be ordered and for the technician to come out and make repairs. Be aware that weather conditions can affect completion time. Ask the hard questions about work days, start/stop times and final completion of the job.
